On November 18th at approximately 4:15 am our tour bus broke down on the highway coming from Coushatta. The bus driver was rude, telling us to stop complaining and if we kept complaining we could get out and walk. We were on a First Class Tour Bus, bus #160. Well, as you can read; it was not first class. The emergency flashers on the bus soon went out and we were on a lonely highly in pitch black darkness. We feared for our lives because we were in a situation where if help did not come soon; we could be victims of a terrible accident or worst. To top it all off the driver didn't have any emergency flare equipment or a first aid kit on the bus! We then asked him to notify the police. He refused and said that we had cell phones just like he did and if we wanted the police we should call them. I googled the Vinton police department because originally that's were we thought we were. Trecie, the Vinton dispatcher went above and beyond her job; helping us to get help from the Fenton police department. This is when we met and fell in love with Sargent O'Quinn of the Fenton, La police department. We went out of his way to make sure we were safe. He provided triangle flares and insisted that the bus driver get us to some light by any means necessary. He escorted us to a service station up the road; which we barely made it too and he stayed with us until he was confident that definite help was on the way. We thought Sargent O'Quinn was gone and he returned with donuts for everyone on the bus including the rude driver. He then instructed the young lady (by the way was very nice) in the service station to give us all the coffee, tea, and hot chocolate we wanted. He was our angel of light on that dark dreary morning. We the passengers on Bus#160 of First Class Tours are eternally grateful for officer O'Quinn. He should be compensated for a job well done. He went above and beyond his job duties. We salute officer O'Quinn and hope that the Fenton police department will follow suite. Know that it's officers like Sargent O'Quinn that makes your department great!!!
